The owner is kind, sweet, and genuinely attentive. I respect his professionalism and hope his business continues to thrive. Unfortunately, the attendants did not reflect the same care. From the moment I arrived, their body language was dismissive—they barely looked up, didn’t greet me, and spoke with a tone that felt impatient and uninterested. When I asked questions about my Benz GLC 300, their responses were curt, with an attitude that made it clear they didn’t want to be bothered. As a single woman of color, I pay close attention to how I’m treated in service spaces, especially automotive ones. I did not feel respected or valued here, and I will not be returning. Best of luck to the owner—he deserves a team that mirrors his kindness and attentiveness.

I brought my 2007 Lexus RX350 in because I was experiencing an engine light and VSC lite on my dashboard. After tiring of another auto repair chain, I was recommended to take my vehicle to Wayne of Chinatown Classic. They are so popular, but was fortunate for him to diagnose and identify my ignition coil error codes. I was pleased to find that after he replaced the coils, I no longer have error codes on my dashboard and no more hesitation of my engine's performance. And the final cost of my repair was much less than I expected. I would therefore recommend them for vehicle repairs or servicing. Thanks Wayne..

If you're looking for a knowledgeable and fair shop, look no further. Wayne, the owner, has been fixing cars in Chicago since 1983 and his shop is exactly what you want your mechanic shop to be: organized chaos and just the essentials.

I’m in love. FINALLY FOUND MY CHICAGO MECHANIC. After having a family friend work on my car on the east coast, it was so painful to interact with every other mechanic. Even the decent ones, would use subtle fear mongering to try to get me to pay (very high prices) for work. A universal experience, I’m sure. Wayne was SO straightforward with me, gave me a detail of the work he’d done, and even brought the old part to show me what was making the noise (a bearing on my wheel axle). He was so helpful, we chatted about my selling the car, and he offered advice on what to fix and what NOT to fix before selling. Just pure good business and honesty. I was just about giving up on finding a mechanic like that in Chicago. The shop office is the first dead give away that is a family run business. Piles of parts and papers and things. Don’t let that turn you off. There were even two KITTENS when I first dropped it off. (though not to stay, those with allergies don’t worry lol) This was in stark contrast to the flashy waiting rooms at the place I’d been to prior who I’m sure would have done a good job too, but would have charged LITERALLY DOUBLE for the same work, and said both repairs I needed were of the same urgency (Wayne said that wasn’t true, and advised AGAINST doing one of them right now). As soon as I walked in, the vibe told me I was in the right place for my 2011 minivan to get the proper care. I actually left feeling…. happy!? I’ve only ever left a mechanic feeling annoyed at best, because either their work or their prices were shitty. Wayne seems to be the best of both worlds. The most deserved 5 stars. I’ll update this review with additional experiences as I’ll be coming back to get more work done.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chinatown Classic Auto Repair, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. Danny, was incredibly kind and considerate, taking the time to explain everything clearly and making sure I was comfortable with the process. Wayne, the owner, was exceptionally understanding and attentive. He really took the time to listen to my concerns, which made a huge difference. What impressed me the most was the mechanic allowing me to look under my vehicle to understand the issue firsthand. It's rare to find a shop that is so transparent and willing to include customers in the process. The service was top-notch, and I felt confident in their expertise. If you're looking for a trustworthy auto repair shop that offers excellent service, fair pricing, and a personal touch, Chinatown Classic Auto Repair is the place to go! I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I need work done on my car. (2020- Volks Tiguan ) -Felicia
