In March, my 2016 Hyundai Tucson broke down, and we took it to an outside shop to get it evaluated. The outside shop said there was difficulty with the engine, and I should take it to Hyundai because it should still be under warranty. Turns out my engine died with only 86,000 miles on it. So Hyundai began the process of getting me a new engine through the warranty process. That took about a month, and we received very few updates during that time period. Then they told me there was an issue with the transmission, and they would try to get that replaced through the warranty as well. This took another month and a half, and on several occasions, we had to drive over to the service location to get an update, because I would call 3-4 times and never get a return call. They gave me an estimated date for when my car would be ready, and when I tried to call and confirm that my car was ready, there was no answer. So I drove over there to pick up my car, only to be told it wasn’t ready, and the technician had left for the day, so the employees couldn’t even ask why it wasn’t ready. At this point they had my car for three months, and I was beyond done with them. So they called me back later that week and told me that the wheel sensor on the passenger side tire was broken, and quoted me $650. There was absolutely no way I was going to give them any more money, so I took it to an outside shop to have it looked at, and it turns out the sensor wasn’t broken, but it wasn’t screwed in all the way. I’m not sure if this was negligence or a scam, but my transmission fluid leaked all over the parking lot of the outside garage. Rather than fight with them over a $20 part, I’m getting it replaced by the outside shop. I am beyond disappointed in the service I received at Great Lakes Hyundai of Columbus service center. They desperately need to hire either more service advisors, or a secretary, because you can never get anyone to answer the phone. They had my car from March 24th to June 24th, and we had to drive to the location 5 times to get an update on my car. They either tried to scam me, or were extremely negligent in the care of my car. Under no circumstances would I ever bring my car back to this location.

Took car in to service for recall work at our 9:30 am appointment. We all agreed that 2:30pm same day was reasonable for completion. No contact at all by 2:30pm- so I called. Here, I received no respect, no common courtesy, no professionalism, no concern, no desire to help in any way, and service writer did not volunteer information about current status or completion time. Yes, it was like pulling teeth and offending someone to discuss the matter of completion time and other concerns. Rather, I received a grudging response of "We need more time". Never did get, even after asking, any estimates about a completion timeframe...must have been too much to ask for. The experience with the service representative likely was "How can I get this customer, who wants to communicate, off the phone so I can continue scrolling on my phone. Yes, I called the dealership on 4 separate occasions, from 5-5:35 to talk to someone in service leaving messages...never was able to get anyone to answer the phone in service. If all of that wasn't enough for a unpleasant experience, I finally received a call at 5:55pm to find out they called a previous owner of the vehicle at ~ 4:25pm to notify of completion. I gave my number and address to the service writer when checking in the vehicle. Folks being an employer myself, I understand the frustration of many businesses who have to hire help. It's increasing evident that lately we have an increasing number of hirees that have little or no desire to serve, to work, and to effectively/ respectfuly communicate with customers. Despite these extremely undesirable traits, they still believe they're worth a six figure salary. Unfortunately, for the past five years, every encounter at this dealership has been unpleasant.

1 Star Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and urgency at this body shop. My vehicle was towed there a month ago after a collision, shortly after picking up the vehicle I noticed the steering alignment was slightly off still. I called in and was told I could bring the car in. I dropped it off Wednesday at 10:44am and was told it would be looked at by a guy named John. 4pm comes around and I call in to check the status, I was told it was in service and would be ready by end of day—but they close at 6pm, so I’d need to pick it up the next morning. I called the next day around 11am, only to be told “they didn’t get to it yesterday” and that it would be done by end of day. 5pm came and went—still nothing. I’ve had to call for every single update, because no one at the shop thought to follow up or communicate any sort of timeline. They’ve already been paid by my insurance and received my $500 deductible, yet there seems to be zero urgency in completing the work. It’s now been two days without my vehicle, and I’ve had to pay for Ubers back and forth—completely avoidable had the shop done what they said they would. Poor communication, no accountability, and no respect for customers’ time. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This place deserves negative stars. I took my vehicle to Great Lakes Hyundai of Columbus in October for a diagnosis and repair. After weeks without my car, I paid $2,307.35 on 11/27 for repairs that were supposed to fix the issues I originally brought it in for. However, after picking up my car, it was immediately clear that the exact same symptoms persisted. If they had properly test-driven the vehicle after their repairs, they would have known right away that their diagnosis was wrong. Now they’re telling me that the real issue is the catalytic converter and want to charge me $2,300 more (even after a supposed $600 'discount'). This means they misdiagnosed my car, charged me thousands for unnecessary repairs that weren't related to the issues I took it in for, and now expect me to pay for the real issue twice. I haven’t had my car since October, aside from a brief period before I had to bring it right back because it wasn’t fixed. I don’t have another car to use for work and daily responsibilities, making this entire situation even more difficult. This dealership needs to take accountability for their faulty diagnosis and make this right by fixing my car properly at no additional cost. Customers shouldn’t have to pay twice for a single issue just because the service department failed to diagnose it correctly the first time. I hope this review gets the attention of both management and potential customers because situations like this should not happen. I trusted this dealership to fix my car, and instead, I’ve been left without transportation and out thousands of dollars. To anyone considering service here: think twice.

Don’t expect to get out of here fast. They schedule almost hr long employee meetings during main work hrs and overall service is slow and most interactions are with uninterested employees. However - DO expect sales people to come down to the service area and try to get service customers to come up to the showroom (I can’t say I wasn’t tempted to go. I’ve been sitting here so long for an oil change, I might be able to leave earlier if I bought a new car). Employee meeting was followed by employee lunch…all the customers can just wait. I had it a 2-star. Employee lunch really knocks service down to 1.
